I also attend American Library Association conferences. If Kansas City wants to get serious about landing large conventions at Bartle, there needs to be a large hotel with convention facilities. Associations like ALA won't even consider cities that don't have a bunch of large hotels next to the convention center. So the city needs a large hotel to attract large conventions. I'm not in favor of this, because the city already wastes too much taxpayer money on corporate welfare projects for wealthy developers. We shouldn't even be talking about new projects inside the Loop when large portions of the city east of Troost need an investment of money, resources and attention. Neighborhoods before developers.
