Sprint sacks 5,000

January 8, 2007 |

Get ready for another wave of Sprint refugees flooding the metro job market and the Joco housing market…

Sprint’s merger with Nextel was supposed to create a stronger company to survive competition with bigger competitors, but it hasn’t quite gone according to the plan.  The work of combining the two companies has been a drag on the business and left the new Sextel even more vulnerable.  5,000 employees will be cut in 2007, but with no word yet on how many local jobs will be axed.

    Told You so…

    I told city government….

    I told the private sector……

I’ve been screaming it throughout communities….

Try and say it with me people…

    Epicenter!

    260,000 new jobs….
128 million square feet of mixed development.
estimated 10 million tourists a year!

    Ford layoffs….
    GM Layoffs…..
    HyperMart, BIG Layoffs…..
    AT&T layoffs…. now

    Sprint, layoffs…..
Pretty soon, there won’t be anymore people to layoff..

You can then come down to the Urban Core and live with the rest of us who are unemployed and laid off…

All thanks to immagineless corporate CEO’s and shiftless city government!

Hurricane Katrina was a Natural Disaster; economic instability is Man Made!

2007 is the year for change.

Brooks, Fairfield, Eddy, Herman, Cooper, Skaggs, Glover, Weaver-(no call, no show); Blackwood, Nash-(thank God he’s gone)and Barnes-(Good to Go, take Donovan with you)-equal small minds, greedy ambitions, narrow minds and backwards thinking!!!

Brooks-murder rate got past a 100! Got another vigil planned? Ran Out on Move Up, Ran out on the Urban Core… Ran out on Black folks in the Ghetto…

    Pass, permanently Revoked!

Fairfield:Running for Mayor, what for? You don’t even know the first thing about the Urban Core! Let alone Black people. Like you care! if you really want to run, then run your sorry ass out of town! Ghetto Pass-DENIED!

Eddy; thought it was Edy, as in “greedy Edy”
what do you know or even care about the Urban Core? African Americans? Know any? Stick to what you know…Nothing! Urban Core “got no love” for you either! Keep it real by keeping out of politics. You have no reason (except a paycheck) nor business, trying to help this city sink any further! Ghetto Pass-NOT EVEN CONSIDERED!

Deb Herman: Can’t call me back! Feels good not having anybody to run against you huh?

Don’t despair; because when your’e out of office-(like you boy Troy) you can keep each other company. On a lighter note-Aquatic centers and everything else you passed that didn’t help the core is going to come back on you too. Living up North feel good huh? Til black folks start moving in…First by the dozen; then by the bnus loads; no where to hide from us now! If you won’t help fix up our neighborhoods-don’t be surprised when teh hommies and essa’s come to your hood and live! Ghetto Pass, never even considered…

    Ah yes, Bonnie Sue!

    Hide in the background….
    Try to be Inconspicuous….
    Silent…

    Who you trying to fool?
You just like teh lot of them too!
Not much to say, beacause like Deb, both
    you ladies-are too uptight-(** *** ***).
Don’t worry, like the Urban Core that’s over your head too. And that statement i read on KC Blog-Ebony and Ivory…Be careful what you say about blacks killing one another.. That’s because of the pressure being exerted upon a race and society that just got the right to vote about forty years ago. Stick to what you know-nothing! (Just like Edy, I mean Eddy).

Ghetto Pass-Approved-(bring you dumb ass down here and hear what black folks really think about you)!

Skaggs-just haven’t had enough huh? You and Deb should have taken lessons from Cooper-get out while you can!

Ghetto Pass-DENIED! AND DON’T ever or even think about running for Mayor!

    Glover:

Have you ever listened to yourself during city council tapings? I can’t tell if your’e sleep or WET!

If you are dosing, stop dammit!
Get a life! You shouldn’t be operating a motor vehicle let alone a city!
How do you feel about black people? Why haven’t you done anything to equalize a rather polized situation for the underserved? Especially African Americans? Especially since you live near the 3rd and 5th Districts? Do you have a plan? Do you have a platform?

Call me I have one handy!

How bout those 260,000 new jobs? Gave it much thought lately? Email me! You won’t…Neither the jobs nor the email!

Ghetto Pass-under review-(NOT)! Parting gifts for the loosers-(you’ll never be Mayor and you know it)!

    The big wrap up!

Weaver, Nash, Balckwood and Barnes- in that oder! A wrap anyway you see it! Weaver I wiated on you for three years. Something I balck people know; If you ain’t done it by now, you won’t ever do it!

Call me you all have my number!

As for teh rest, I wish you luck and hopefully you’ll put a better face on this city! Good luck and Good Running!

    Ghetto Pass accepted!

    Have a Nice Day!

I work in the Sprint payroll center. The back-office problems of that merger, when they are made public, are likely to:

    1) Result in huge class-action lawsuits
    2) Result in further devaluation of share in Sprint stock

I’m talking 12,000 people who didn’t get paid, retirees not receiving pension checks, laid off employees not receiving severence checks, people from both categories who haven’t had said checks generated in a month, and benefits inadvertantly terminated.

Payroll employees have been spending at the office trying to remedy the issue, because the ratio of payroll staff who can fix the problem to the number of people who actually have problems would make most grown people cry.

The call center employees who are supposed to handle calls from irate employees do not know what they are talking about, half the time, and either lie to employees to get them off the phone or else tell them something completely inaccurate (usually involving a promise that employee will receive back pay by such-and-such date, which is completely unrealistic).

All of this stemmed from problems that arose when Sprint tried to convert all of their legacy employees on to Nextel’s payroll system. I don’t know if they hired a bunch of IT people who had no clue what they were doing, or if they forced said people to initiate the merge, even though it was nowhere near the point of being ready.

Either way, the problems just started on January 12th for most of the people. Expect this to hit the media soon. What is happening behind the scenes in that company is a travesty of epic proportions.

Payroll problems not resolved - where is the fu**ing media on this? My husband has had spotty payroll for a year and his last check BOUNCED. Damn Forsee and his package - if I could track down his private residence (probably in some JOCO fancy people development) - my butt would be out picketing his house purely to shame him . . . no deal - people without conscience can’t be shamed. This company will fold in less than 5 years - leave NASCAR and downtown arenas alone and PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES on time and in full - I only want to see my husband bring home cash for his payroll - Sprint paychecks are worthless!!!!
