Mark Funkhouser is making a play for the Creative Class, and even mentioning Richard Florida by name. The initiative is focused on the artists in the Crossroads District, but I hope he also realizes that we also have large numbers of other folks in the advertising, design, architeture, and IT communities.

If you read the Wikipedia entry you linked to, advertising, design, architecture and IT are part of the creative class.
A quote from Wikipedia:
“The creative class is composed of scientists and engineers, university professors, poets and architects, to name a few.”
Creative Class refers to people who come up with creative solutions as part of their job. I have read a little (a very little) about this, and think this concept is really great, and I am glad to see Mr. Funkhouser embracing this idea.
We want the Funk!
At the 1/28 debate at SW High, Jim Glover made the only mention of the Crossroads district.
