A few decent forums for these two to answer the hard questions will be the best thing. Let Brooks explain his accomplishments the past 8 years and how his experience will translate in to making neighborhoods safer now as Mayor than what he was able to do as pro-tem. And let Funk defend his audits and which he still supports and why along with justifying his more recent ideas of selling off most of the water works, why KC shouldn't take the high moral ground in helping support indegent care and truly how vouchers will help the KCMO school district.

I'm not thrilled with my choices at all, but it's nice to see another blog post telling me that either I agree with the Funk or I support the status quo.

As to whether the race focuses on issues, if it does, it will be a change from the primary. All we heard was that the KCStar liked Funkhouser and that Brooks was well known. So as much as I hate attack ads, at least compared to the dirth of coverage in the primary, a negative campaign would give most voters some information about the candidates.

Could this race be any more boring now. The geriatric guy vs the guy that looks like a magician and talks about nothing but saving money....zzzzzz. Where is the dynamic leadership?

It'll be interesting to see if the race is about each candidate's respective record or whether it will degenerate into an all-out anti-Funkhouser campaign. With Alvin Brooks on the city council for the last eight years, it would be interesting to hear more about his accomplishments.

I'm really not sure who to vote for now. Maybe Funkhouser is right about school vouchers; maybe the time for them has come to stop families from fleeing the city. But then again, I think Brooks is running because he really wants a better city too. And there's something about having an auditor as mayor that makes me nervous.

Imani,

The big money rolled in for Prosecutor Al and ethically challenged Nace. Trial lawyers backed Al with the big bucks, and big business backed Nace. It was the only way for those two to finish as well as they did.

Al Brooks is a good man, who has done great things for this city. If his only big idea was to sign on hired gun Pat Gray, the voters will see through that. He needs a plan to go with whatever dirty tricks Gray has up his sleeve, and hope that the voters won't be turned off by that type of campaign.

Funk has a plan and ideas. He could smell the stink generated from most of City Hall from his office. He wants to change things for the better. Big money hates him, which automatically makes him a great candidate for the people.

It will be a fun race. Funkhouser by an eyelash. You heard it here first, people!

You can go look up the campaign finance reports for each candidate in any of the races on the Missouri Ethics Commission's site.

I wish I knew who gave big money to each candidate. I wish someone would name names.
