One of the coolest fountains in the City of Fountains is the Northland Fountain, because it’s one of the few than run all year. After a long cold snap like we are currently experiencing, the ice builds up to monumental heights. If you aren’t familiar with it, the fountian is at North Oak Trafficway and Vivion Road, and very much worth a visit before the ice melts.

To bad the fountain won’t be there after the light rail goes in. Looks like the people of Gladstone will have to pay $10 million for light rail and they didn’t even get a vote.
Can’t believe Anita Gorman is going to let this happen to the park.

I don’t remember seeing this foundtain completely freeze for a very long time. There are probably some years that I missed it, but the last time I remember it completely freezing over was the year it was built (’83? ‘84?). That year it was even more spectacular. It froze into an almost perfect dome with only the hints of the jets that created it. If I had digital copies of the pictures my Mom took I’d post them.

I’ve been waiting more than twenty years to see that again.
