Vote Early, Vote Often

February 27, 2007 |

Looks like turnout could be incredibly low so far. I just voted and was only number 60 at my polling place, a politically-active Midtown precinct that often has as up to 80% turnout.

Another thing I noticed was a lack of Mark Forsythe signs at the polling places. It seems he’s the only candidate following the campaign laws that prohibit signs on public property like my community center.

Seriously, I found a huge revenue stream for the city. Just give each campaign that has a sign in an illegal place $1000 for littering for each sign…some of the campaigns have the much money in the kitty — and many have WAY TOO MANY signs where they shouldn’t be around town.

Just looking out for the good of the city :)

My precint had many signs but more importantly and more shameful were the Gamble supporters standing at the door with election campaign literature - forget about the 25 feet rule; these folks were right next to the door.

Doesn’t the law permit signs in public right-of-way on election day?

Yes. In fact, I think it permits them anytime, but we citizens have the right to remove them if they are an eyesore, etc.

You’d better check the law yourself though before you go removing anyone’s signs. I don’t want to be liable for anyone going to jail.

I was voter 200 up at my polling place at 6:30pm. But hey! That means my vote was 0.5% of the vote! It means something!

It was Funkhouser, Brooks, and the 10 dwarfs.

Eddy, Sheilds, Kline, Glazer, Dicapo, Fairfield - embarrassing, terrible showing. How could they possibly think they had even a sliver of a chance?

Reiderer - I guess buying an election with a lot of money and grand standing didn’t work as in the past.

    Nace - zzzzzzzz (yawn)

Brooks - Wonderful soul and stately human being that he is - sounds and thinks like a 75 year old man. Watch and listen to him on the CITY channel and you’ll see; he is a bit slow to pick up on issues.

Funkhouser - Is Kansas City ready for a meritocracy? Will the special interests do him in, or will his grass roots, independent campaign strike a chord with voters again …

    … Time will tell …

I think Funkhouser has a better shot than Brooks; I think most of the voters for the ten who lost will probably break for him.
