MMF Update
April 3, 2007 |
Columnist Steve Penn has an update on State Representative Mike Talboy’s legislation that would grant that the Mutual Musicians Foundation an exemption to Missouri’s 3:00 a.m. liquor law. The bill has been assigned to the St. Louis-dominated Local Government committee, and has not been scheduled for a hearing.
Talboy needs Kansas Citians to email and call the committee to ask for a hearing on the bill and urge the commitee members to vote to send it on to the full House of Representatives. Committee members need to know that the MMF is an important part of KC’s history and that this bill is about preserving our heritage.
- Email the House’s Local Government Committee now!
- HB 1058 - 6:00 a.m. liquor license for the Mutual Musicians Foundation.
- Members of the House of Representatives Local Government Commitee.

Jazz is an important part of Kansas City culture and history. For me personally it’s an important part of our family’s life. My oldest son is a dedicated jazz trumpeter and we consider ourselves fortunate to live here where he can immerse himself in so much music. I hope that Talboy is successful in convincing the rest of the Missouri’s representatives that the MMF is a special place and should be treated as such.
If the Boats stay open all night why not the MMF until 5am? After all the years they have been open with not any problems I would think we could have a grandfather act for them.
Excellent point Larry.
Talboy is doing a great job.
FYI: In the email link above, it looks like Bryan Pratt is in there twice and two reps have been left out: jerry.nolte@house.mo.gov, Trent.Skaggs@house.mo.gov
It is amazing Mike Talboy gets anything done in Jeff City. If you are in a skirt, he is ready to get you in bed.
Sad that kc democrat would resort to that kind of useless attack. This is why dems are so far down, we keep attacking those who actually try to do something good for the community. So sad.
