The Star analyzes campaign contibutions from the recent city elections.  Notable biggies include the carpenters and firefighters unions, the Burns and McDonell engineering firm, the Helzberg family of Johnson County, and the Nutter family.

The Pittsburgh Penguins haven’t completely forsaken Kansas City.  They have hired HOK Architecture’s KC-based sports division to design their new arena.

A new sprawlway is proposed to link Johnson County’s suburban office parks with employees who can no longer afford to live in the county and have migrated east to new bedroom communities in Cass County.

    yeah, keep at it, johnson county… soon you’ll be even *less* prepared for the coming energy crisis.

    You got that right, Dave. I think the $3+ gas prices are just an appetizer. And natural gas is getting scarcer too, so heating the McMansions is gonna end up costing fortune. The documentary “The End of Suburbia” should be required viewing…especially for Johnson Countians.
