Skybus gets nod from FAA

May 11, 2007 |

Skybus, a new discount carrier based in Columbus, Ohio, received final approval
from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin service on May 22. The airline will offer non-stop service from Kansas City International (MCI) to Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) starting on that same day for as little as $10 each way ($40 and $60 after that, depending on demand). If you already snagged a low fare, you may now make concrete plans. Please be advised that the flight arrives in Columbus at 12:55 a.m., so use caution when planning an excursion that doesn’t involve someone picking you up. A taxi from the airport to downtown Columbus will run you between $18 and $25 each way (hours for car rental desks vary, so you should definitely call first). Oh yeah, you should also make it a point to read Skybus’ fine print… assigned seating and baggage check are not included in the price.
