Is anybody else deeply saddened about Bannister Mall closing? I spent a huge chunk of my childhood there and it’s been depressing to watch it’s demise. RIP.
It’s the city of Kansas City’s fault it closed. we spent allot of time down there too. I’m over the trauma.
When the city was putting 71 highway thru. Allot of house and apartment buildings were destroyed and the people who lived there had to move somewhere. They all moved in the area of Bannister Mall. YOu can not put low income families around a mall they can’t aford to buy things that cost to much.
You heard the news how car break ins, shop lifting was on a rise there, remember that rape happened in the bathroom, fights. You hear this stuff on the news, word gets around then people stop coming.
It was former Mayor Cleaver rein during that time
You should post this at kcskyscrapers.com. I heard there are allot of gay men in that forum.
