2007 Fringe Festival, now with more fringe
July 24, 2007 |
KC’s fledgling Fringe Festival returns for its third year this weekend, with hopes of firmer foundations and fringier offerings. The first two years got it off too a good start, but were tinged with financial problems and criticisms that much of the program was more mainstream than fringe. This year it sounds like they have ironed out the money problems and continued pushing the art into edgier territory.
The wide-ranging festival covers many areas of the visual and performing arts. Festival venues are clustered around Downtown, primarily in the River Market, Loop, and Crossroads Arts District. Most venues are easily accessible via the MAX and #57 buses, plus the #110 for 18th & Vine.
