Lawrence, KS just approved a second Wal-Mart for the town. It will be out in the western part of the city, which the people there have chosen to develop as a carbon copy of Olathe and other neighbors to their east. Rumor has it the key to sealing the controversial deal was Wal-Mart’s agreement to stock patchouli and Kathy Lee Gifford’s new line of hemp clothing.

If the “hippies” were actually making the decisions in Lawrence, they wouldn’t be building another Wal-Mart. It was wanted by rich KU alums living in in huge homes. They live in the part of Lawrence where they don’t have to deal with people wearing sandals and tie-dyed shirts.
BTW, wasn’t there talk at one time about the Lawrence Wal-Mart being really “eco-friendly”? Has Wal-Mart expanded this idea or was it all a bunch of talk?
I laughed out loud at this post! Freakin’ Lawrence.
“…to stock patchouli and Kathy Lee Gifford’s new line of hemp clothing….”
All made in China, I’m sure.
But hey. Dead-head struggling college students need jobs too, ya know.
