Cheney to campaign for Graves, but not in his district
September 17, 2007 | 3 Comments
Today Vice-President Dick Cheney will host a fund-raiser for 6th-district Congressman Sam Graves, but it won’t be in the 6th District. Instead, it will be south of the river at the Downtown Marriott, which is in the staunchly Democratic 5th District represented by Emanuel Cleaver.
During this campaign Graves’ henchman Jeff Roe has strongly criticized Kay Barnes for being a big-city mayor that is out of touch with the largely rural district. He has repeatedly said that Graves represents the 26 counties of the 6th District, while Barnes represents the 26 blocks of Downtown Kansas City. Well, the Marriott is right in the middle of those 26 blocks. While Graves and Cheney are schmoozing Downtown, Barnes will be in the district she seeks to represent, hosting her own fund-raiser at Chappell’s in NKC.

Funny thing going on here, Chappell’s owner (Mr Chappell) is a Republican election Commissioner in Clay Co closely tied to Sen Bond. So the Bond/Graves feud continues??? That Kay Barnes would have a fund raiser at his restaurant is very, very telling.
Well that was a wash. Barnes didn’t show up for her own fundraiser/media event.

Nice thought though.
Hey Bill -
This is so disingenuous. You know good and well why the VP was at the Marriott. Per the White House, it is one of only two hotels in the city that accomodates security requirements. Call Chris Hernandez at KSHB and ask him. It was in his legitimate reporting on this story, you agenda driven fraud.
