No, that headline doesn’t refer to the Chiefs or Royals. We’re talking about the KC Roller Warriors. Their recent win of the national roller derby championship makes them the first KC sports team to claim a national title since the Wizards won the MLS Cup in 2000. Congrats, ladies!

Actually you’re forgetting about the short-lived KC Knights minor league basketball team, who won their league’s national championship in 2002 after also in the same season breaking a KC sports franchise record for most consecutive wins.
