MissouriNet reports that Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has approved for circulation an initiative petition limiting stem cell research in the state, basically to specifically ban human cloning. Heard of Cures Without Cloning? Get ready for a deluge of questionably-worded mailers with lots of sad, infant pictures in your mailbox if this thing takes off again. Take one look at who’s behind this group and you might just wonder: Why not just ban cloning in Johnson County, Kansas, and leave Missouri alone? Eight percent of voters for Missouri Governor in 2004 are needed to place the question on a future ballot.
