Fixing Animal Control

Dog Catcher

You might not know it, but our city’s animal control system is a disaster.  Not only is it poorly run, but it’s underfunded because the City Council diverts pet licensing fees to non-related uses.

Brent Toelner has a great piece on The Kansas City Post that offers a way to fix the problem without a  tax increase or any burdensome regulation.  All he wants to do is use lessons learned by a city who has already solved the problems of animal control.

The euhenizing of animals is a horrible thing. The solution is simple. People should not be allowed to profit from animals in any way. There is no use for “breeders” when so many unwanted animals will never find a home.
