A few highlights of stuff going on over the Thanskgiving holiday…
Fireworks
Every year Jackson County has a giant holiday light display at Longview Lake, and tonight it kicks off with entertainment and fireworks. Here are the details.
A Christmas Carol
The KC Repertory Theatre is presenting the Dickens classic now through Christmas Eve at its Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus.
Plaza Lights
The Star has an odd little Flash thingy with details on the Plaza ceremony on Thursday. While they helpfully map out the parking, they neglect to mention public transportation options. The MAX will be running every 15 minutes. The main Plaza stop will be closed, so get off at 47th and Main. Park-and-rides are located at 3rd and Grand in the River Market or at 74th and Wornall in Waldo. If you live in between, the parking lot of Home Depot at Linwood and Main is good too.
Mayor’s Christmas Tree
Friday night Mayor Funkhouser lights the giant tree at Crown Center. Party starts at 5:15 p.m. and the lights go on at 6:20 p.m.
MU-KU Football Game
The KCATA will operate shuttles to Arrowhead Stadium from the Northland, Downtown, Plaza, Brookside, and Waldo on Saturday.
The Screenland Theatre is showing the game for free at their Crossroads location, which includes a bar. It is at 1656 Washington in KCMO.
