Smokestack Series

November 23, 2007 |

The Pitch reviews Boulevard’s new Smokestack Series, which is now available throughout the metro area…

Tip - we’ve heard one of the best prices is at a Bubbles, a good but relatively unknown shop at 74th and North Oak.

Bonus Tip - the Sixth Glass Quadrupel is the beer formerly known as manimal that Boulevard previewed at some beer festivals last year.

I’m through 3 of the 4 (we’ve not yet opened the Saison). All are very good in their own right. HOwever, the Sixth Glass is about as good of a beer as I’ve ever had…

I’ve had them all several times by now. They’re all pretty good, but the Tripel is probably the weakest (not in ABV terms, just flavor). The manimal/abt/quadrupel is top notch, as is the saison. The IPA is alright, but it can’t touch the classic top tier American IPAs like Bell’s 2-Hearted or Stone’s Ruination. I’m glad to have some quality local craft brews, though. Wish we had more.
