Driving from Lee’s Summit to North KC everyday for the past 30 years— I really appreciate all the hard that went into the reconstuction project. It was a very interesting project to watch and I thought that it was amazing how well they coordinated every detail, there was virtually no traffic interruption throughout the entire project. MODOT must have a master mind on there staff who planned everything so well. I am very gratefull for the new intersection!

So, they are thinking about changing the name. I think it should be changed to Kay Barnes, considering she needs her name on everything in order to have something to back her up in running for Congress!

The Triangle is finished? NOT!

Yesterday- I sat in traffic for 15 minutes trying to get to Truman Corners on the West access road (after sitting in traffic trying to get from southbound I-435 to U.S. 71).

We need to just pave over every square inch of virgin soil for our cars- to Hell with the environment or light rail- and to KC’s so-called “civic leaders” who THINK they know what we want or don’t want.

Amazing ignorance and tunnel vision KC!

Oh- and they can call this hog a cow all they want- it’ll ALWAYS be the “Triangle” to just about everybody.

The Grandview triangle is a lot better, but it’s still a pain because of all the construction that is still around, rocks and dust all over the place.

Several years ago, the cost of the Triangle Project was said to be $800,000,000. Surely they didn’t do it for less than half that. The $300,000,000 figure I’ve seen lately must be missing something.

Believe me, if I went back to having a long commute the idea of rail would be appealing. I had jobs downtown and in midtown and I would at least give a train a shot.

And the reason so many take cars is because the KC area has done a good job of not planning for the future – like it or not, we will need to break the auto addiction and like it or not this means we will need to have more mass transit not less.

Even Pres. Bush told us in a speech Fall of 2006 that the war in Iraq is about oil. What this means is that when we continue to rely on single occupant cars and fuel inefficient SUV’s we prolong our stay in Iraq and guarentee the loss of more young soldiers. As far as I can tell, the most patriotic act one could do (aside from voting) is to support mass transit and other means of reducing our oil consumption – the sooner we become energy independent, the more secure we will become.

But 99% of the people use cars and the $300 million would only cover one rail line for one year. [Grandview to Downtown,Trains]
