70s-80s icons pass

Two guys who had a big influence over development Kansas City in the 1970s and 1980s have passed on.
Sherman Dreiseszun was a banker and developer who built malls like Metro North, Oak Park, Metcalf South, and Indian Springs. He also built the Downtown office tower One Kansas City Place, still the tallest building in Missouri.

Earlier this year there was much talk about the idea of replacing KCI’s three-ring terminal complex with a more traditional single-terminal design. This week the public can learn more about the idea when the city holds an open house for the new airport master plan.
