This is why we are gathering the petitions to stop the super TIF and other handouts at Bannister. Major retail is dead. It's time to get an office live work community at Bannister and do it right.

The Wizards' attorney has been kissing the Council's butt and its going to be rubber stamped no matter how bad a deal it is. There is no way some Council people will vote no becuase then they will maligned the next 3 years.

It's up to the people to kill this bad idea.

I think you're right, Mike. Hash House A-Go-Go is gone too, and if anything should've appealed to the fatasses who never go anywhere without their SUV, that should've been the one. I can see the comparisons to Bannister Mall, too. Looks like history repeating itself.

The Legends, with the recent murder and failing restaurant, is starting to look like Bannister Mall did in the early 90s. A sign of things to come?

People pushing the Wizards development point to the Legends as a model. But Legends just opened. I went there twice just because it's new. My trips will become much fewer now that the newness is wearing off. It's not a sustainable development.

And neither is the Wizards plan for Bannister Mall.

Yeah, they're closed. Not enough business. The owner is suing The Legends, claiming he was misled about the amount of foot traffic to expect. It's that douchebag Brad Nicholson who kept it out of the Crossroads. He claimed it was about parking issues, but I happen to know for a fact he personally hates ethnic food.

I think Caliente would have been different in the Crossroads; they were probably pretty uninspired out at (I can barely bring myself to say it) The Legends. They're closed now. Brad Nicholson is the one who kept them out of the Crossroads. He's a prick.

bob, i have to say that my experience a few weeks ago at caliente (which i'd been quite excited to try, considering all that i'd read about it) was most underwhelming, from the service to the presentation of the food on the plate to the food itself -- poor, uninspiring, and bland. i can't help but wonder if things would be different had it been able to open in the crossroads. *sigh*

If one has a great restaurant there is no worries of people coming to it. But might as will blame it on others.

How is KC Rags favorite bar/restaurant coming along in West Village............Caliente (owner Kerry Duffin)? Thats the bar/restaurant Crossroads didn't want due to a lack of parking.

Branson---loved the comparison, insiderinfo, right on the mark. The place certainly seems to inspire window-shopping when one goes out there for dinner on a weekend. However, one shops from one's CAR WINDOW as one drives from restaurant to restaurant, looking for one with a shorter line and an acceptable menu. BRILLIANT design concept. And how more appropriate? One of the NASCAR pantheons to fossil-fuel consumption is right there on the grounds. (Yet another Branson connection there.)
