31st Street Closed

With no advance warning the city has closed West 31st Street between Main and Broadway.  There is no official notice or press release from the Capital Improvements Management Office, but it looks like the project is scheduled to last until November of this year.

Watch out for road closures in the city and the Northland tomorrow. The Star reports that President Bush will be making appearances on the Plaza and in Crown Center in the morning.  Then he will be passing through Downtown around lunch time, en route to Parkville for a Sam Graves fundraiser.

Congrats to Pitch writer Nadia Pflaum for getting a story published in Salon about Senator Barack Obama’s visit to his mother’s hometown in Kansas.

Today the Broadway Cafe in Westport appears on the front page of the New York Times. The topic is trouble at Starbucks, and Broadway Cafe’s encounter with a Starbucks next door is the prime example.
