Buh-bye, Baby Blunt
January 22, 2008 | 7 Comments
Today Missouri Governor Matt Blunt stunned the state with a YouTube video announcing that he was dropping out of the race for re-election. The spin is that Blunt says was able to do everything he wanted in one term and doesn’t need another four years.
Now the pundits will start speculating on his real reasons, which might include being one of the nation’s most unpopular governors, having a fierce opponent in Jay Nixon, or being faced with a serious lawsuit over the email deletion scandal.
The next question will be who will the Republicans run in his place? State Treasurer Sarah Steelman? House Speaker Rod Jetton? Lieutenant Governor Pete Kinder? Whoever it is will have a huge challenge to catch up with Jay Nixon’s one year lead in fund-raising. Would-be governors will barely have two months to file for the August primary election.
Update: KSDK-TV in St. Louis picked up on the fact that the governor has already started airing television ads for the campaign. This seems to fuel the fires of speculation that such a last-minute withdrawal indicates a lot more is going on behind the scenes.

Oh the days and weeks ahead we are going to find out a lot about Blunt-boy. I predict we are going to find out all the dirty laundry he has been hiding. He knows the “jig is up” and is trying to put a positive spin on it.
I can’t wait! Justice finally for every man, woman and child in the state!
yay!
Yesterday, I heard on NPR that there was “speculation” that Blunt was seeking “higher office” and that he might be in consideration for a Vice Presidential nomination!
This was the hardest I have laughed in a long time.
Now that Blunt has manage to mess up everything for low and middle income people. He’s been caught in his mismanagement of this office. Look at the people he’s hurt by cutting medicaid. It’s time for him to go because he’s done nothing for the people of missouri.
Matt Blunt for VP…you’re making this up, right? Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa….
I thought Matt Blunt was doing a great job and was very popular among republicans.
Blunt’s a douchebag. Now Sarah Steelman has announced she’s running, and if she doesn’t win, she and Jeanne Patterson are going to form a duo and start a country music career.
