The Star has a big article on the increase in automobile theft in KC suburbs.  For example, the number of stolen cars doubled in Lenexa last year.  The number in Lee’s Summit was up 50%. Overland Park, Prairie Village, Shawnee, and Liberty also saw big increases.

For some reason reporter Benita Williams failed to mention that thefts dropped by 3% in KCMO in 2007, part of multi-year drop in most crimes across KCMO (KCPD stats).

Not surprised. The JoCo Star would never portray KCMO positively while it was reporting something negative about the golden ghetto.

I’ll agree. Heaven forbid the local media should report anything good about KCMO.
