Coming down to the wire on both sides, Missouri narrowly went to Barack Obama and John McCain. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton won almost all counties, but Obama’s wins in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Columbia put him over the edge. On the Republican side it was almost a three-way tie with the candidates all over the map.

The really interesting thing to note is the respective totals for each party. Obama and Clinton have a combined 780,000 votes compared with only 540,000 votes for all three Republicans. It’s a pattern that has been seen in many other states with Democrats turning out in much higher numbers than Republicans

And not to forget our neighbors to the west, Barack Obama won a big victory in Kansas. Republicans in Kansas will be voting in a few more days.

Don’t forget, everyone was asked before voting whether they wanted to vote for Democrat or Republican candidates. That doesn’t necessarily mean that everybody who voted for a Democratic candidate was a Democrat. Some of us may have been fed-up Republicans.

Good point Donna. But the pattern has been clear even in states with closed primaries, where Republicans can’t ask for a Democratic ballot.

Unless people are okay with another four years of a Republican as President, Obama had better get the nomination…
