Instead of lightrail We can all start calling it “White-rail”.
Went to a meeting tonight at the Mohart Community Center. They are still using the same proposal 15 years ago which the city used. Still going down Main Street. Boy that was some hard studying.
KCATA got $5 million grant to do there study.
When Cleaver was in rein the KCATA got $10 million for the study.
Apparently in the Forecast proposal for Density and Employment Growth, for Old Hyde Park Historic District Neighborhood, in the year 2030 the neighborhood is gone. ( no more houses)
Highrise and businesses will replace the neighborhood. If you look alittle further south and we show Nutterville. Its still there in the year 2030. It pays to be rich.
There using a study from the projection of how many people are using the MAX. ( mostly Brooksiders going to and fro work )
There were some Lightrail Task Forcers there but no Mark Forsythe. ( maybe he’ll be at the other meetings )
Apparently the KCATA aren’t doing the nodes or as we call them Park and Ride Hubs. Them say this is what destroyed the future of lightrail 15 years ago. So them are keeping it out of the plans this time.
Lightrail will NEVER, NEVER run down Troost or Prospect. Best bet is BRT, as they say.
Why?
No growth or employment density along these corridors. Yes, Black people, are screwed again.
No Tony, Westside will NEVER EVER get it either. Your best bet is the Metro.
good call
