KCTV sinks without Perv In Chief

Bottom Line Communications reports that KCTV-5 is dropping in the ratings after the departure of the guy behind their recent Sleaze TV campaign. The folks in KCTV’s Joco studios are said be rushing to don their bicycle helmets and wrap themselves in mattresses.

Auto theft up in suburbs, down in city

The Star has a big article on the increase in automobile theft in KC suburbs. For example, the number of stolen cars doubled in Lenexa last year. The number in Lee’s Summit was up 50%. Overland Park, Prairie Village, Shawnee, and Liberty also saw big increases.

Locally-owned patisserie to replace Westport Starbucks

The Star’s Joyce Smith reports that the soon-to-depart Westport Starbucks will be replaced with Kashmir Patisserie, and locally-owned pastry shop. Not only is this a great addition to Midtown, but it should also help fill the void left when French bakery Café Apanare was destroyed in the Great Waldo Fire of 2007.

Regional Transit or Rational Transit?

The Star reports that Mayor Funkhouser’s plan for regional light rail got a polite, yet cool reception from metro-area mayors. Some of the big players like Overland Park and Olathe didn’t even bother to show up. Prime Buzz reports that public transportation is far down on the list of priorities for Johnson County cities.
