This week the Star is launching another attempt to compete with the Pitch in the weekly arts/entertainment/20-30-something category. “ink” is debuting on Wednesday at shiny green news boxes all over the city and online at inkkc.com.

You may remember they tried this a few years with a stand-alone Preview weekly, but ultimately had to scale it down and roll it into an insert in the daily newspaper. Perhaps the past failure is why the new venture is on the DL.  The only hints that it’s a Star publication are the domain name registration and the mailing address. This one might actually have a chance at succeeding since it looks like Preview alum JSpace is being left at the mothership this time around.

Another clue that it’s run by a newspaper is the fact that the site has a 1:1 content-to-advertising ratio.

Guh! That is hideous. Should have called it (st)ink.

ATTN Star: stick to sucking JoCo’s cock and leave urban KCMO arts and culture to the people who live here and actually give a shit.

Wow! That is one ugly website. I have a headache just from looking at it.
