If the cost to park in a garage took into account all of the actual costs (i.e. damage to environment, loss of business/retail space, loss of streetscape and other development opportunities) KC would have a modern and thorough transit system as people would no longer be able to afford both the gas and the garage parking. The parking garage should by now be a relic from the past in terms of development. It seems that KC is hell-bent on going backwards when the rest of the country is moving forward. KC would do well by looking to Portland for a model of how to implement sensible green developments.

At some point, those that choose to drive fuel inefficient automobiles and choose to park in garages should have to pay the actual cost for their choices. As it stands, the price to park downtown is a joke that does nothing to encourage people to find alternative transportation.

I agree Tim. I have always thought that too but it is scary to think what people would want to rename it!! The City of Kansas existed before Kansas was even a state, but they still are able to retroactively haunt us!!

I will ALWAYS believe the biggest thing that has held our city back is the first word in its name, "KANSAS", the most vile, ignorant, desolate, and BACKWARD place on the planet. If you ask me, a re-naming would benefit OUR CITY greatly.
