No, it’s not for Homeland Security, it’s for Air Quality.  Monday is the region’s first Orange Alert of the air.  That means sensitive groups like kids, elderly, and asthma sufferers should avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.  The rest of us should refrain from pumping gas, mowing the lawn, or driving.  Bus fares on the Metro and the Jo will drop to 50 cents for the day.

    Wow, they sure got that one right.

    6:00am, forecast high near 100 degrees.

    8:00am the TV weathercasters frantically readjusted their forecasts to 90 degrees.

    I don’t think it ever got past 79 downtown.
