McClatchy Watch

November 19, 2008 |

McClatchy Watch covers the implosion of the McClatchy newspaper company, which owns the KC Star. It has a huge debt load, crashing revenue, and can’t find anyone interested in buying or investing in it. In addition to the well-known troubles and stunning layoffs at the Star, McClatchy newspapers in Miami, Fort Worth, Seattle, and Sacramento are facing similar problems.  Cuts at these local newspapers are being used to balance the books at headquarters back in Sacremento.

McClatchy Watch is a web blog that does cover the downward spiral of the McClatchy newspapers. However, it’s telling from the website’s proper title (cancelthebee.blogspot.com) and from reading more than a few posts that this site is actually the cranky ramblings from a guy who really hates the Sacramento Bee and its parent company because he believes they are too liberal.

Yes, newspapers have real issues, and much like the auto industry, most of them are self-inflicted. However, political leanings are not the problem.

Dang. Chris beat me to it. McClatchy Watch is as fair and balanced as World Net Daily, Drudge Report or some other right wing site.

Sorry Kevin but anyone who thinks the media is liberal has not been paying attention and isn’t going to get any website hits from me.

I agree we have many problems with our media but I am smart enough to research media ownership and learn that conservatives own our media, thus causing your liberal bias claim to lose all credibility.
