It’s anarchy out there in the strip malls. On the day after Thanksgiving a New York man was trampled to death when a crow of stirrup-panted maniacs broke down the doors to get at the cheap Chinese goods. That same day two pedestrians were mowed down in a Wal-Mart parking lot here in Lee’s Summit. Then today we have two reports of Wal-Mart hijinx, a purse snatching again at the Lee’s Summit store and a police officer injured by shoplifter at the Blue Ridge Stores.

How interesting. I’m a bike commuter through the fairer months, and just a couple weeks after starting, I altered my course to avoid the roads near a Wal-Mart. I had to deal with more aggressive drivers and rude remarks in that one intersection than on the entire rest of my commute.
Coincidence? Sure it is.
