Ingredient localvore restaurant coming to KC

The Star reports that the Country Club Plaza is the first Kansas City location for Ingredient, a new localvore chain restaurant out of Lawrence.  Ingredient sounds a lot like the nearby Mixx, but with an expanded menu.  The restaurant focuses on fresh, local ingredients and already has franchises in Lawrence and Johnson County in Kansas and Columbia in Missouri.

Ingredient will go into the old Meiner’s grocery store space 48th and Jefferson Streets, behind reVerse.

Ingredient is awesome! I’m super excited. Totally different from The Mixx, same type of food, totally different concept.

  2. Rick says:

When you talk of it being the first “Kansas City Location” do you mean Leawood doesn’t count?

  3. Ryan says:

God, I hope it is nothing like the Mixx…that place is so disappointing. Wilty lettuce in warm bowls with cold chicken cubes…

Can you tell me what makes it locavore. I’m seeing a lot of things on the menus for the other locations that don’t sound local at all. It looks tasty and all, just not local.

  5. Tim says:

Homegrown tomatoes…in October…are you kidding? That’s what I said to our caterer…keep it real and you’ll do OK…

ingredient is not a franchise! It is a local group from KC that just happened to open the first location in Lawrence. the restaurant does not use 100% local product as the local farming community can not support the quantities of fresh product needed. The restaurant features some local produce when avilable.
