New York Bakery closes for good

New York Bakery, the landmark Jewish bakery at Gregory and Troost in south Kansas City has closed for good.  After a long and painful deterioration, the owner has finally decided to give up and lock the doors.  The place had been an anomaly for years, since most of the region’s Jewish community long ago migrated to southern Johnson County and caught the Troost fear.  We predict someone will buy the business and re-open it at 150th and BFE.

    LOL at your last line.

Strange thing is, I still only hear good things about this place despite recent hardships.

  2. Eric says:

Would have been great to hear about this place, or other “at risk” kc institutions, instead of just another post about them closing . . . . .

  3. Great place. Sad demise. But inevitable.

In a ten block radius of Troost & Gregory, I counted 20 thefts, 11 burglaries, 3 robberies, 2 drive-by shootings, & 3 assaults. That was just for March n April, 2009.

150th & BFE has to happen when the scum prey upon and victimize the good.
