News Update: KCK Blues Fest, DTV, Schools, and Dunkin’ Donuts in KC

This weekend is the annual KCK Street Blues Festival, essentially the only remaining blues or jazz fest left in KC.

Over at TV Barn, Aaron Barnhart has an update on how the DTV switch is going locally.

The Star’s Joyce Smith notes that Dunkin’ Donuts has finally announced its return to Kansas City.  Although at first they will only tease us with a location waaay out on 151st  Street. Hopefully they’ll be in KC proper soon after that.

The Pitch’s Justin Kendell has an update on school closings in the KCMO School District.

It’d be nice if, just once, a company trumpeting its entrance to the Kansas City market would do so somplace that’s actually actually in Kansas City and not clear out at 151st & BFE Kansas.

  2. DLC says:

Actually it would be nice if they stayed away altogether and kept our local donut shops in business.

  3. ScooterJ says:

There are no local donut shops downtown. The River Market or Loop are screaming for a donut shop.

  4. ballz says:

i guess lamar’s is not local.

  5. ScooterJ says:

There’s no Lamar’s downtown. Closest location is nearly 2 hours round trip walking or an hour round trip by bus.

  6. ballz says:

wrong – midtown has lamar’s adjacent to home depot. 3395 main street.

I would like Trader Joe’s to be the next new addition to the KC metro retail scene.
