Tony’s Kansas City has an excellent scoop on how a religious conference receiving city tourism funding is featuring a minister with a known history of hate speech towards gay, lesbian, and trans-gendered Americans. The situation is perfect local example of the split happening within African American churches over civil rights for gay and lesbian Americans, yet none of the city’s legacy media outlets covered the story until it was all over.
This afternoon City Council passed a resolution condemning the hate speech, and then city staff pulled funding from the event due to the religious content.

Great coverage, BKC. Very good entry. Thanks for letting us know. It’s good to know the right thing happened and it wouldn’t have if word didn’t get out about it.
Thanks again.
