KC population revised up to 480,129

The City has once again successfully challenged the Census Bureau’s annual population estimate.  We are now 480,120 strong. As recently as last year the official count was 450,000. A 2008 study says that the population could be as high as 533,000.  In related news, the Star is continuing a weird obsession with a supposed population race between us and Omaha.

The next full count of the Census occurs in early 2010.  There is a good chance that migration back to central cities coupled with Northland growth will put our official population over half a million.
