@BlogKCThe City has once again successfully challenged the Census Bureau’s annual population estimate. We are now 480,120 strong. As recently as last year the official count was 450,000. A 2008 study says that the population could be as high as 533,000. In related news, the Star is continuing a weird obsession with a supposed population race between us and Omaha.

The next full count of the Census occurs in early 2010. There is a good chance that migration back to central cities coupled with Northland growth will put our official population over half a million.
