The KC Star has laid off more people, even though they seem to still be turning a profit and are seeing their ad business rebound.  The constant layoffs at the newspaper aren’t about the Star’s business, but rather about a crushing debt load at corporate master McClatchy

Last year’s documentary about the decline and redevelopment of Downtown Kansas City has gone national. It is currently airing on PBS stations across the country.  Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be scheduled for another local showing anytime soon.

Looks like management at KCTV-5 has finally clued into the fact that Katie Horner’s sensational weather reporting has become the butt of metro-wide joking and is actually hurting the station’s reputation.  They are pledging to tone down the station’s weather coverage. Season 2 of KCPT’s popular Check, Please! begins Thursday at 8:00 p.m.  The series features restaurant reviews from KCPT foodie viewers and often has some interesting insights on the local food scene.  This season’s schedule includes En Chamas, NARA, Lulu’s, City Tavern, Julia(n), Room 39, and many others. KCPT now has last season’s episodes online.
